Directions: Read the lesson and answer the following questions in sections 1 – 4.
Section 1
Review the four simple food safety steps of clean, separate, cook, and chill. Use Resource 1 to complete this section. (40 points)

Section 2
Review the Baby Boomers and Food Safety digital poster. Use Resource 2 to complete this section. (30 points)
Learn how you can help grandparents, older relatives and neighbors stay
safe. Answer the following 2 questions using at least 2 complete, detailed sentences.
- Explain why older adults have greater foodborne illness risks
- List and discuss at least one food pathogen that causes sickness and a way to prevent this from happening.
Section 3
Review the Seven Food Safety Steps for Successful Community Meals digital flyer. Use Resource 3 to complete this section. (15 points)
- Discuss a time when you observed at least one safety step that was not followed when you attended a group meal. Provide a solution to solve the safety issue using at least 2 complete, detailed sentences.
Section 4
Review the Food Safety Chain of Prevention digital flyer. Use Resource 4 to complete this section. (15 points)
- Discuss which of the four phases in the food chain you think is the most important part of the chain. Explain why you believe this is true using at least 2 complete, detailed sentences.
