Use the website http://www.moneychimp.com/articles/finworks/fmvaluation.htm to experiment with calculating stock value.  Make up a hypothetical example, plug in the numbers, and show your calculations.

Go to a website called “Seeking Alpha” at  http://seekingalpha.com/article/96153-bank-megamerger-of-the-day, and read the article called “Bank Megamerger of the Day.” Summarize the details of the merger.  What were the motives for the merger? Was this merger a good idea, given the economic environment of the time? Why or why not?

Go to the FDIC’s website at http://www.fdic.gov/bank/statistical/index.html and look up one of the bank holding companies in your state.  What kinds of details about the bank holding company you selected can you collect from this website?  You might also try an individual bank rather than a bank holding company if you encounter problems in your search efforts.
