Description
What an amazing time to study economics in general and comparative systems in particular!!!
I asked you to finish quickly with the homework for a reason. Starting in 10 days, we are shifting all our attention to the fiscal stimuli in a time of pandemic of the US, EU, and other governments around the world. You will have the rare opportunity to apply your knowledge of different cultural, political, legal, and economic institutions to unprecedented events in real time.
Weeks 12 to 15 you have just one project. You will start every week by finding and reading no less than 5 articles on the fiscal responses to the COVID crisis. You will compare how your government responds to the pandemic to the way other countries try to lessen the effects of the current economic disruptions.
You will choose your sources wisely – pick only respectable and professional ones such as online journals, think tanks, magazines and news channels (and even in those cases, guard yourselves against the ideological biases of the authors). Listen to leading economists such as Art Laffer, journalists such as those at WSJ, experts from the Fed, ECB and other central banks, WB and IMF.
Email your weekly reports by 2pm on Thursdays. 500 words per report. Bullet points. No attachments.
If you do a good job, you will receive glory at the Freedom Seminar where I will present results from your research in mid-May.
All bibliography must be included in APA format.
