Purpose: To distinguish between cancerous and noncancerous cells

Hypothesis

Create an explanation of what you expect to observe in the tissue samples based on what you know about the nature of cancer.

Materials and Methods

The materials for this lab are four tissue samples and one microscope. The tissue samples are stained in order to observe the stages of mitosis for each cell. Two of the tissue samples are normal (noncancerous) and two are cancerous. The procedure is to place each sample on the slide to observe the mitosis stages of the cells in each sample.

Results

Use the chart below to record your observations of the tissue samples. For each tissue sample, count the number of cells in each stage of mitosis.
