Description
In your Final Project, you assess new skills for leaders in the public sector and how they can be used to promote positive change in a changing environment.
Specifically, your final project is a 5- to 7-page Training Proposal for training emerging leaders.
Think about your training proposal from the perspective of a public official (such as a mayor, county executive, or agency director) who strongly desires his or her agency heads to become “cutting edge” leaders. He or she needs to train them and will consider your training proposal and the ideas therein to accomplish his or her training goals.
Your training proposal should include the following sections, in the order shown below:
- Introduction
-
- A description of the need for the training proposal based on a setting of your choice. You are free to create a scenario to validate the need for the training or use a scenario similar to this one: “The newly elected mayor of Jonestown mission wants to make her city attractive to international firms. As a result she wants you to create a 1- or 2-day training proposal to train all of her agency heads in leadership skills.”
- Outline
-
- A brief description, in outline form, of the main components and leadership skills to be covered in the training proposal. Be sure to present the skills in the order of their appearance in the proposal. The outline should be 1–2 pages and include a brief schedule for the training days.
- Body
-
- A narrative section that validates your rationale for selecting the training components/skills on which your new leaders will be trained. The training components/skills may come from assigned readings, coursework, and also from the Walden Library. Use separate paragraphs to describe and validate the need for each training component/skill.
- Conclusion
-
- A brief statement reiterating the importance of, and the need to have, leaders trained with the latest skills and techniques available.
- Highlight any additional training that should occur in the future as well as follow up training to this proposal and resources that will be available to participants.
- Resources
-
- A list of references used in the creation of your proposal. You may utilize any of the assigned readings or any resources that are available in the Walden library.
Each section of your proposal should be supported with Learning Resources from the course and/or literature from the Walden Library.
Your proposal should be 5–7 pages, double spaced, with the exception of the actual proposal outline which may be single spaced. Follow APA-formatting style and use appropriate grammar and spelling.
Although the Final Project is not to be submitted until Day 7 of Week 5, you should become familiar with the project requirements and have them in mind as you proceed through the course.
The Final Project will be evaluated according to the indicators in the Final Project and Writing Rubric located in the Course Info area.
